Pre-operative Instructions

For All Surgeries:

  • Please arrive at your confirmed check in time for your appointment.
  • Wear loose comfortable clothing. We keep the office cool, so dress warmly.
  • Cell phone usage is prohibited in operatories.
  • For the first 24 hours after any surgery, plan not to take part in any lifting, bending over, or any activity that requires physical exertion.
  • Swelling and discomfort may take 1-2 weeks to subside.

For your convenience, your pre/post-operative prescriptions will be phoned into the pharmacy of your choice prior to your surgery appointment. Please have any pre-operative prescriptions filled prior to your appointment.

It may be important to stop taking aspirin and non-steroidals such as Motrin and Advil, 7-10 days prior to your surgery. If you are taking Coumadin or another blood thinner, remember to discontinue them as directed. If you take antibiotic premedication, please take it as directed before your surgery.

Please alert the office to any allergies or sensitivities that you might have to antibiotics. You will be prescribed an antibiotic if our doctor determines it to be necessary. Take as directed until gone. It is advisable not to take these medications on an empty stomach, as nausea may result. For women taking birth control pills, be advised that antibiotics may interfere with their effectiveness.

Sedatives (Taking any of this medication is optional)

All sedated patients are required to have a responsible adult bring them to and from their appointment,  AS WELL AS stay in the waiting room for the duration of their procedure.  No transportation services can be used (Uber, Lyft, taxi, etc).

Remember, we ask that you do not eat or drink for six hours prior to taking the medication for oral sedation, ensuring to arrive to appointment with an empty stomach. (Except minimal water with medication)

  • Ativan (Lorazepam)
  • Valium (Diazepam)
  • (Note: We do not offer Nitrous Oxide as a sedative in our office.)
